Environmental pollution
By: Ethan K.
We all need to be concerned about environmental pollution these days, and some of us do a better job than others. The others I am referring to are large corporations that care more about profit than our environment. Being that I own a business, I am not making this statement as an average American employee who doesn't understand the business world. I am talking as a CEO that knows business and the havoc that corporate greed can cause. I tend to think as a person that loves alternative energy and cares about protecting our environment, so I may be the "tree hugger" on the other end of the spectrum of corporate pollution. I think that I can safely say that most people are disgusted by pollution, and those who pollute to further their own needs. I hate to see pictures of oil spilling into waterways, or hearing stories about Coca-Cola polluting local waterways in India. I think that as a company grows, they should take the time to see the environmental footprint that they are leaving, and put plans into place to stop or limit the amount of damage that they are doing. Who are these big polluters?
Today, I found a site that lets us know who these polluting culprits are. The site is PlanetHazard.com and they show the different types of pollutants, the polluters, and the top polluting industries in our nation, and even in your state. According to PlanetHazard.com, you can use the site to "learn about the unknown hazards around you - the toxins you may be breathing. PlanetHazard uses information from the EPA to map over 86,000 companies throughout the United States that emit hazardous air pollutants." Go check them out and be amazed at how much some of these big companies are doing to destroy our planet.
