Tenaska Biofuels

Tenaska BioFuels is Tenaska's marketing unit dedicated to the expanding ethanol and biodiesel industries. Founded in 1987, Tenaska is one of the largest independent power producers in the United States. Tenaska BioFuels has links with alternative fuels producers, marketers, blenders and retailers. As of early 2008, they had offtake contracts to market about 100 million gallons per year from existing and planned production facilities. Forward contracts with planned facilities will total over 500 million by 2010.

The biofuels team at Tenaska BioFuels is closely associated with Tenaska Marketing Ventures and Tenaska Power Services (TPS), who are experienced in gas and power marketing. Tenaska BioFuels also draws on Tenaska's expertise in running some of the most efficient generating plants in the United States. Tenaska BioFuels works with both new and established companies, with results-oriented dedication to the marketing, transportation and risk management needs of its ethanol and biodiesel customers.

As technology develops in the ethanol and biodiesel production industries, Tenaska BioFuels is seeking to adapt its services to fit the needs of its customers. In March of 2008, Tenaska BioFuels acquired the business of Edible Oil Marketing, LLC, an Omaha-based vegetable oil and biodiesel marketing and trading company. The acquisition responds to the growing customer need for offtaking, transporting and marketing services for agricultural oils in a variety of markets, including biodiesel feedstock.

Tenaska has a history of navigating through the turbulence associated with energy markets, therefore it is uniquely qualified to help its customers better understand the internal logics of the commodity markets. Whether an ethanol marketing agreement or a short-term spot purchase, Tenaska BioFuel works to add value for customers.
