I love fora.tv. This website has all the boring think tank talks on it that they sometimes show on the c-span channels. I recently watched one about plug-in hybrid electric cars. Fascinating. A plug-in hybrid car plugs in at night and uses the on board gasoline engine only when needed and with more batteries on board, the use of that engine is less than the usual hybrid.
If you are a reader of this blog, you have read about power plants and how generating power there is much easier to be clean than at millions of individual cars. Sherry Boschert talks about how using solar got her more and more involved in electric cars.
What would happen if we all followed the logic she discusses here?
Electric cars get charged at night when energy is cheap. Solar power works when energy is expensive because supply and demand make it so. (Most of us are all working during the day burning the daylight oil.)
New implementations of technology need early adapters and early adapters need a good reason. Ms. Boschert talks about how fleet owners can save money and make their companies look good by using plug in hybrid cars.
With clear thinking she also dispels the hydrogen fuel cell car technology. It’s a good watch. I just hope that fora.tv would have a speed up button on its player. I would really like to listen more quickly.
