Sure, right after I write a short entry to be the end all of conciseness on energy generation, I see this video. Micro wind to energy. Nothing spins. It just vibrates up and down. And it is cheap at the micro level. I wonder how well this would size up.
And there have been concerns about birds being hurt by giant windmills. It would be much harder for them to be hurt by a vibrating belt.
This young kid, Shawn Frayne, won the 2007 Breakthrough Award from Popular Mechanics. I hope we see these in production everywhere and see this as a better way to generate electricity. This also seems to be a better way to generate power from wave energy as well since that is vibration as well.
This video looks like something that might be of use for off the grid generation. Interesting, to say the least.
