C-Span3: Senate Committee on Environmental Policy

senate committee on environmental policyFrom c-span.org :ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY Power Plants/Climate Change Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) chairs a hearing of the Senate Environment & Public Works Cmte. The Senators take testimony on legislative options for containing pollution from power plants. Witnesses include executives from three major utility companies, as well as experts on energy and the environment.

My favorite environmentalist Sen. Imhofe has stated in his opening remarks that scientists are moving to say that global warming is not happening and that humans are not the cause. I will put more little tidbits in the comments as I see them today.

Power plants CEOs and some green experts will be testifying.

  • The Panel includes:
Jim Rogers Chairman, President and Chief Executive Office Duke Energy
Peter Darbee Chairman, CEO, and President
    PG&E Corporation
Lewis Hay Chairman, Chief Executive Officer FPL Group
David Hawkins Director Climate Center, Natural Resources Defense Council
Jason Grumet Executive Director National Commission on Energy Policy
Tom Donohue President and CEO U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Marlo Lewis Senior Fellow Competitive Enterprise Institute
Bob Murray Chairman, President & CEO Murray Energy Corporation
Thomas J. Borelli PhD Portfolio Manager Free Enterprise Action Fund

There is a lot of diversity in the speakers and their viewpoints. I am still listening to the opening remarks. FPL CEO Hay was quite impressive in his remarks about the greenness of his company.

Marlo Lewis is adamantly against any regulation on carbon emissions. He is strident on his points. He believes it is the economy and only the economy that is important.
