Governor Schwarzenegger has proclaimed that October is Solar Energy Month in California.
The initiative is organized by Go Solar California! and the idea is to provide a showcase for solar events happening across the state.
Anyone – from residential beginners to industry pros – can access a Community Solar Calendar and submit the details of their event. Once the event is published, Go Solar California! will publicize it via email to over 10,000 subscribers of its newsletter.
Events can be a solar class or workshop, attending a solar tour or fair, or simply talking to neighbours about the benefits of going solar and generating clean energy.
Go Solar California! is a collaboration between the California Energy Commission and the California Public Utilities Commission. It aims at encouraging Californians to install 3,000 megawatts of solar energy systems on homes and businesses by the end of 2016.
It also hopes to install 585 million therms of gas-displacing solar hot water systems by the end of 2017.
