California Independent System Operator (ISO), which operates the Golden State’s wholesale transmission grid, said during a recent stakeholder conference, that the State gas surpassed a milestone during a recent heat wave. On that occasion, the state produced more 1,000 MW of solar power.
ISO said that amount of power corresponds to same amount of power produced by two large gas-firepowered plants. The company said it has an installed capacity of 1,160 MW.
The company also has investments plans to enable the State’s utilities to reach the goal of 33 percent renewable energy by 2020.
