Cargo and Sails: Real hybrid power

The original use of wind was to move ships across vast expanses of water. Here they get back to that premise.

Of course, a sail will help move a cargo ship. Why wouldn’t it, and with fuel savings of up to $1,000 a day, any ship could probably hire two people to maintain the sails. This is the original hybrid power. OK, maybe slaves in the hold with wind was the original hybrid power…. But this is great. There is so much fuel being spent shipping goods, and where there is burning oil, there is pollution. So this cuts down on pollution and energy use.

I have been on a sailboat and I have felt the power of the wind as it causes you to tip to 20 degrees port. There is some power with even an easy breeze that will help.

I think this is great and the big question is: where else are there such “obvious” savings. Of course, these savings are only obvious after we see them. But someone has to see them first. Is it you? Is it me? It has to be someone right?
