City of San José Promotes Solar Home Tour

San José in northern California is one of the most forward cities in the U.S. in terms of green policies, thanks to its Green Vision plan which has put the city at the forefront of the municipal green revolution.

Next Saturday (October 01), the city will be promoting a solar home tour to introduce residents to solar technologies their fellow citizens are already using. Tour participants will have the opportunity to learn about available incentives, different types of solar power technologies on the market today and, last but not least, how much money they can save.

This initiative is part of the non-profit American Solar Energy Society (ASES) National Solar Tour, the world’s largest grassroots solar event. Last year’s National Solar Tour attracted more than 150,000 people in 49 U.S. states and Puerto Rico.

The City of San José is one of the 25 designated Solar America Cities and it is partnering with several organizations to host this year’s tour including: the U.S. Department of Energy, the ASES, local solar companies including Clean Solar, Freedom Solar, REC Solar and SunWize.

Tour participants also will have the chance to take part of free tours of the San José Green Vision Clean Energy Showcase. Located across the street from San José City Hall, 200 E. Santa Clara Street between 4th and 5th Streets, the showcase is a hands-on demonstration of solar technologies and will be open from 9 am to 3 pm. Guided tours will be given at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm.
