Though not quite the answer to everything, the smart car fortwo has some things going for it. It is small, yet safe. It does have a quirky look (not as quirky as my 1975 Pacer though). Its gas mileage is high at approximately 40 mpg. I think this is the perfect commuter car for those who just can’t bear the thought of letting someone else drive them to work (like a bus driver).
The review of the car at the site above is clear. I can see this as a great car for any DINK (Double Income No Kids) who have any environmental concerns. It makes a statement, it’s sporty, and your nieces and nephews can’t go with you because it only has two seats. And anyone can parallel park this since it is so short and narrow at less than 9 feet long and about 5 feet wide.
And there are already 750,000 out there in Europe and elsewhere. So this is proven technology.
I am not saying we should all dump our SUVs that we drive alone to work everyday. But as the old heap starts to wear out, this may be a good place to look for something completely different.
