A freebie is always nice, and it is even nicer when it has a green element about it. A couple of months ago, Zinio, a digital interactive publishing outfit, launched an initiative called Read Green, which translates into 50 million free subscriptions to the digital versions of a number of magazines. Zinio says that consumers prefer digital publications because they feel they are being lighter on the environment than when they read paper rags. Besides, several publishers are looking to improve their green credentials, and this is one of the ways they can achieve that. Are we heading towards a paper-free magazine world? I hope so.
Anyway, I’ve tried the GoReadGreen website, which is where you can choose your free subscription, and it works fine. So, give it a go and if you find a magazine that appeals to your reading tastebuds, just select it and a few moments away you’ll have access to your digital copy.
