The Wall Street Journal wrote today in its energy blog news and about Nitol Solar, a Siberian company that “wants to become one of the world’s biggest producers of high-purity silicon, the main ingredient of solar cells”.
Still on the subject of solar power, but a bit closer to home. Literally. People with solar panels on their roofs are finding it easier to sell their properties. God yeah, who wouldn’t prefer a house with those shiny, future-friendly panels?
And it’s not just homes that look better with solar roof panels. Car factories do too, it seems. Greenbang reports that Spanish carmaker Seat “has decided to deck out its factory in Matrorell with solar panels, which is reckons will save it 11,7000 tonnes of carbon emissions”. That’s good of them, let’s hope their customers also find ways to be kind to the environment when they use their cars.
I really enjoy reading your blog, it always has great insight. But I am very frustrated with the fact that so few people are talking about presidential candidates and their thoughts on global warming. Now that it is down to just a few candidates I would think that this would be a bigger issue.
Live Earth just picked up this topic and put out an article asking why the presidential candidates are not being solicited for their stance on the issue of the climate change. I just saw a poll on EarthLab.com that says people care a lot about what their next leader thinks of global warming. Does anyone know of another poll or other results about this subject?
Here is the page where I saw the EarthLab poll: earthlab.com/life.aspx. This is a pretty legit website; they are endorsed by Al Gore and the alliance for climate protection and they have a carbon footprint calculator. Does anyone have a strong opinion about this like I do? No matter what your political affiliation is or who you vote for this is an important issue for our environment, our economy and for homeland security.
Hello Adrian, thanks for your comment, I think you are right about presidential candidates and their stance on climate change – it should be the priority issue of the election. I’ll have a look at the link you pointed. Thanks again.
