U.N. Summit: climate change and Bush

UN summit and BushThe big news this week is the U.N. Summit which closed on the theme of climate change. It seems like the whole world is getting ready to get committed, except for the biggest emitter of greenhouse gases, the United States. According to an AP report:

Bush…rejects the idea of international treaty obligations to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other “greenhouse gases” blamed for global warming – an idea central to U.N. climate negotiations.

I throw my hands in the air in disbelief every time Bush does his climate-change denial act. It seems like there’s no budging on Bush side so all we can hope for is that the next U.S. president will change that. Sadly, that’s the best bet for now although the seriousness with which the rest of the world is taking the issue now gives us a lot of hope. Despite Bush.
